Brief summary

A wet scrubber is an air pollution control system that uses a liquid (usually water) to capture harmful particles and gases from industrial exhaust airstreams before they are released into the atmosphere. The liquid is sprayed to bind the pollutants, so that the air exiting the stack is cleaner and meets emission standards.

How it works

How does a wet scrubber work?

01

Contaminated gas enters

A stream of exhaust gas containing pollutants enters the unit.

02

Contact with liquids

The liquid is sprayed to bind particles and gases.

03

Particle separation

Liquid bound particles are separated from the gas stream.

04

Clean air comes out

The clean gas is released, and the liquid is sent to the wastewater treatment facility.

Product type

Types of wet scrubbers we manufacture

Classified based on gas-liquid contact mechanisms and flow configurations, they are selected according to the efficiency requirements and emission characteristics of your site.

Venturi scrubber

Uses a flow restriction (throat) to create high turbulence between the gas and liquid, resulting in high efficiency for fine and submicron particles.

Spray tower scrubber

The liquid is sprayed from the top of the tower onto the gas stream rising from below, making it suitable for coarse particles and for cooling high-temperature gas.

Packed bed scrubber

Using packing material inside the column to increase the gas liquid contact area, thereby improving the efficiency of dissolved gas absorption.

Random packing

The packing media is arranged randomly within the column (e.g., Raschig rings, Pall rings). This flexible installation is more cost-effective.

1. Vertical / counter-current, counter-current flow of gas and liquid, optimal efficiency.

2. Co-current, unidirectional flow, high flow capacity.

3. Cross-flow, perpendicular flow, limited vertical space.

Structured packing

Media packing is neatly and uniformly arranged. It results in lower pressure drop and higher contact efficiency compared to random packing.

1. Vertical / counter-current, optimal mass transfer efficiency.

2. Co-current, a lower pressure drop.

3. Cross-flow, ideal for spaces with limited installation area.

Frequently asked questions

All about wet scrubbers

What is the difference between random packing and structured packing?

Random packing is arranged randomly and is more economical, while structured packing is neatly arranged, with lower pressure drop and higher contact efficiency.

What type of wet scrubber is suitable for fine particles?

Venturi scrubbers are generally most effective at capturing fine and submicron particles due to the high turbulence in the throat section.

What is the difference between a wet scrubber and a dust collector?

A wet scrubber captures gases and particles using a liquid, while a dust collector captures dust and solid particles without using a liquid.

How long does it take to manufacture a custom wet scrubber?

It depends on the specifications and configuration. Our team will provide an estimate after an initial consultation.
